Arcs Express
Arcs Express funicular
Bourg Saint Maurice lies at an altitude of 840m. Its ski resort, Les Arcs, with its first site, is located at 1,600m.
To link the village railway station to the resort, a cable car was first installed in 1974. In 1989, this was replaced by a 100% electric funicular on a 2,875m-long line with a central bypass and numerous viaducts to cross the Isère.
The gradients are irregular, with a maximum gradient of 39% and a vertical drop of 810m.
The funicular is equipped with 2 independent trains, each capable of carrying up to 270 passengers.
