SS4P PSC, a new generation of adaptive platform screen doors
The PSC (Platform Safety Curtain) system was developed to address a major issue in rail operations. Indeed, differences in the number of doors, width and positioning of access points between different types of rolling stock mean that conventional platform screen doors are incompatible with lines serving multiple types of trains.
The innovative design of the SS4P PSC is based on fully sliding doors that move to create an opening precisely aligned with the train’s doors, regardless of their configuration. Just like a curtain opening and closing, the SS4P PSC automatically adjusts its opening to suit the rolling stock present at the station, thereby ensuring a high level of safety whilst offering great operational flexibility.

Reducing civil costs engineering

Safety
The SS4P PSD offers a level of safety equivalent to that of a conventional platform screen door (PSD), whilst providing the flexibility required to operate lines serving multiple types of trains.
Key points:
- Complies with EN 17168, the benchmark standard for platform screen doors: crowd-push and mechanical tests, etc.
- A level of safety equivalent to that of a conventional platform screen door.
- SIL 4-certified door unlocking.
- SIL 4-certified detection of an unlocked door (door open).
- Monitoring of the mechanical energy of the doors in accordance with SIL 2.
- Opening and closing times are the same as those for the train doors.
The structure – The design
The PSC is based on a modular design intended to adapt to the specific requirements of each station. Its structure can be configured according to the length of the installation, the available mounting options and the characteristics of the platform, whilst ensuring the rigidity and mechanical performance of the entire system.
- Suspended technical rail, securing the entire system from above.
- T-shaped load-bearing beam, supporting the structure and the moving parts.
- Flexible configuration with or without intermediate posts, depending on the project requirements and load-bearing capacity.
- Additional supports (arches or brackets) may be used to reinforce the structure where installation conditions so require.
- Controlled deformation in response to stresses caused by passing trains, wind and operational loads.
- Running rails integrated into the technical fascia, on both the track side and the platform side, to guide the sliding components (ASL).
